These Terms and Conditions may be changed at any time. We will notify guests of any material changes occurring between their booking and arrival. Also see our Privacy & Data Protection Policy.
TERMS
‘you/yours’ means the hirer and his/her party.
‘we/us’ means Bonnes Routes Gîte / Stephen and Stephanie Barlow.
‘gîte’ refers to the gîte building, garden and terrace area, parking area and any services provided by us.
1. Booking & Payment
1.1. BOOKING
Bookings can be made by completing our Contact Form with details of your required dates and number of guests. We will email you within 24 hours to confirm availability and provide a Booking Form for you to complete and return (this will be pre-populated with the information you have provided and total costs). Your booking is only fully secured once we have received the signed Booking Form and deposit as detailed below – until this time we may release the dates for other guests to book.
Bookings can be made online through third party agents:
Périgord-Gites, Car’n’way: the initial enquiry from the website is treated as a direct booking.
VRBO, Trip Advisor, Booking.com, Airbnb (‘third party booking’): the booking is confirmed once we accept your booking request through the third party website in line with the terms and conditions available on their websites.
1.2 DEPOSIT
A deposit of 25% of the total price is required within 48 hours of us receiving your signed Booking Form, unless otherwise agreed. The remaining 75% is payable at least six weeks before arrival. For late bookings (less than six weeks before arrival), full payment is required at the time of booking.
Third party booking: deposit/balance or full payments must be made in accordance with the terms and conditions shown on the third-party website.
1.3 PAYMENT METHOD
Payment is by credit/debit card via the secure Stripe online payments platform (www.stripe.com). An invoice is emailed directly from the Stripe system accompanied by a secure link to make payment. We have no access to card details.
Third party booking: payment is by credit/debit card or PayPal as per their individual arrangements.
1.4 NON-PAYMENT OF THE BALANCE
Where a deposit has been paid, failure to pay the outstanding balance within seven days of the due date (six weeks prior to your rental start date) will result in your rental being suspended and the gîte will be re-advertised as available until we receive your payment. Should the gîte be re-let during this period, and your balance subsequently received, your balance will be refunded.
1.5 CANCELLATION
If you cancel the booking with us (or fail to pay the outstanding balance as above), the following charges will apply:
43 days before arrival: 25 € admin fee;
22 to 42 days before arrival: 25% of the full cost;
15 to 21 days before arrival: 50% of the full cost;
14 days or less before arrival: 75% of the full cost.
Third party booking: Other terms may apply - see the cancellation policy that accompanied your booking or which is available on the third-party website.
1.6 SECURITY DEPOSIT
A deposit of 250 € must be paid along with the final balance before the booking commences.
If the gîte is found to be in the same condition as it was upon arrival, the deposit will be returned within 7 days of your departure date using the original payment method, unless agreed otherwise. We reserve the right to retain all or some of the security deposit in the event that:
The gîte is left excessively dirty (section 2.4).
There is damage to the furniture, fixtures or fittings (section 2.6).
Excessively strong cooking odours affect future guests (section 2.6).
Third party booking: The deposit is paid to the agent and will be returned according to their policy, less any deposit forfeited as above.
1.7 TAXE DE SEJOUR
The Taxe de Sejour is a tourist tax which funds tourism development in the local area. Hotels and owners of holiday accommodation are required by law to collect this tax when renting rooms/property. As a four-star furnished accommodation, the rate applicable to Bonnes Routes is 1,35 € per person per night. The tax is included in the advertised price and will be shown separately on your invoice.
VRBO and Airbnb guests pay this tax when they book through the third-party website. Guests booking via Trip Advisor and Booking.com will need to pay this upon arrival as it is not collected by the booking agent.
2. Your Stay
2.1 ARRIVAL
The gîte will be available from 16:00 on your booking start date. If you require an earlier arrival please contact us in advance. We can store luggage for you if required and may be able to offer earlier access.
We will meet you upon arrival to show you the facilities. The lead guest should identify any issues with the gîte and report issues to us within 24 hours of arrival.
2.2 LEAVING
The gîte must be vacated by 10:00 on the final day, unless agreed in advance. We will undertake a departure inspection to confirm cleanliness and damage (sections 2.4 and 2.6).
2.3 SERVICES/PROVISIONS INCLUDED
The following are included in the cost of the rental:
A welcome pack as described on the website at the time of booking.
All bed linen.
Bath towels for the number of guests indicated at the time of booking (maximum four people).
Hand towels, tea towels and washing cloths.
Kitchen/bathroom cleaning solutions for every day use.
Car cleaning and maintenance facilities as described on the website at the time of booking.
WiFi: internet speed and access are subject to provider availability and cannot be guaranteed at all times.
2.4 Cleaning
Cleaning is not included in the cost of rental. On departure the gite should be left clean and tidy, in the same condition as on arrival. For avoidance of doubt this includes:
Crockery/kitchen items cleaned and put away.
Kitchen work surfaces cleaned.
Floors vacuumed.
Toilets cleaned.
Recycling removed.
Stripping the bed linen ready for washing.
A vacuum cleaner, broom, dustpan and brush, mop, and cleaning products are provided for your use. During your stay please:
Clean up crumbs and spills promptly to avoid attracting pests.
Clean up spills on the hob promptly to avoid burning/scratching this.
Wipe any spills in the oven to avoid them getting further baked on.
Out of respect for future guests, do not cook foods with strong lingering odours (such as frying of fish, meat, spices) - thank you for your understanding.
If you require any help with this during your stay (including specialist cleaning products) please let us know promptly so we can help out.
Should the gite be left excessively dirty or damaged, a cleaning charge of 50 € (and/or professional cleaning costs) will be invoiced/deducted from the security deposit.
2.5 WASTE DISPOSAL
Up to date instructions regarding waste collection and recycling is provided in the gîte and should be followed at all times.
2.6 DAMAGE
Please treat our home with respect.
Instructions for the use of towel radiators, electric hob, TV and other electrical items are available throughout the gîte (in French and English). It is important that you follow these instructions at all times.
Should you find any part of the gîte, furnishings or equipment to be faulty or not working as expected, please notify us as soon as possible to enable us to resolve the issue. This will help ensure you have a safe and comfortable holiday, as well as limit any potential damage or problems.
We know that plates and glasses can get dropped and food/drink can be spilled. In the event of accidents or damage you should tell us as soon as possible so we can respond quickly to minimise damage/stains etc. We will not normally charge guests for minor damage or breakages.
Where damage is identified during the departure inspection, remediation will be agreed at the time.
Where damage is identified after departure this will be photographed and documented and the lead guest contacted to resolve the issue and be advised of the amount of deposit to be forfeited and any other claim to be made.
Should any cooking odours or cleanliness issues impact the comfort of future guests, we reserve the right to charge/deduct from the security deposit, 10% of the total rental cost as a discount for affected guests.
2.7 SAFETY & SECURITY
You use our grounds and facilities at your own risk. Please be aware of the following hazards:
low ceilings/beams – where possible these have been marked to help guests avoid them
floor to ceiling windows in La Chambre Panoramique – windows are fitted with window restrictors for the security of guests
No pets or children are allowed at the accommodation.
Smoking and vaping are not allowed anywhere in the premises. If smoking or vaping on the terrace or parking area, please ensure you dispose of any rubbish safely (particularly in dry weather).
A fire blanket is provided in the kitchen - please familiarise yourself with the location and instructions and use this in the event of a kitchen fire.
Keys are provided for all external doors. For security purposes you should close the windows and lock the gîte when you leave for the day.
We cannot be held responsible for any injury to you or for damage to/loss of your personal property. You must ensure you have appropriate personal and vehicle insurance at all times. By entering into a booking, guests are confirming that they will have adequate insurance in place at the time of the rental.
3. Rights & Liability
We can refuse to accept any booking at our sole discretion.
We can enter the accommodation at any reasonable time and for any reasonable cause.
We can refuse entry to visitors.
We can claim from you for any loss of future business as a result of damage resulting from your stay howsoever this is caused.
We can terminate your rental agreement immediately and without compensation or refund if you cause any damage, break the law, cause any disturbance, or do not comply with our Terms and Conditions.
You are responsible for your own safety and that of any friends/visitors.
You must keep all furniture, fittings and effects in the same good condition as they were found.
You must ensure all guests, friends and visitors comply fully with our Terms and Conditions.
3.1 FOREIGN NATIONALS
To comply with article R. 611-42 of Code of Entry and Stay of Aliens and of the Right of Asylum, all guests will be required to complete a Fiche Individuelle de Police form. You may complete this in advance and bring it with you, or may complete the form on arrival. We are required to keep this form for six months and hand over to the police and gendarmerie if requested. All information will be treated in accordance with our Privacy & Data Protection Policy.
We hope that all of our guests have a fantastic holiday and will return to stay with us again. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more comfortable, or there is something you are not happy with, please let us know straight away during your stay.
